Appstore-2025.1.1

The following release notes include features, enhancements, and bug fixes for end users and admins.

Student / Faculty / Staff Experience
Change type Changes
Kiosk Mode (beta) Introduced the ability to run Apporto in “kiosk mode” on thin clients.  Kiosk mode provides users with a realistic desktop experience by hiding the browser frame and preventing users from navigating away from Apporto.  (Apporto is still running in a browser, but this is invisible to the user – it looks like they are logging into a physical desktop).  Kiosk mode provides a very secure and controlled experience with low cost thin clients.

This feature has been certified with Chromebooks and Windows PCs (using the Chrome browser) so far, and we have plans to certify with additional thin clients in the near future. For more information, please see the following Help Center articles:

Performance Enhancements Improved H264 handling:

  • Improved accuracy of detection of device support for H264, so we can enable H264 whenever possible, assuming it is enabled in the app/desktop config.
  • Ensured H264 detection runs when users launch from new devices
